Levigo is looking for a Fixed Asset Register Controller for a leading green steel company in Boden!
The Fixed Asset Register (FAR) Controller is responsible for ensuring that the FAR is complete, accurate, current and supported by appropriate evidence. The role provides the link between Project Controls, Finance and Engineering to ensure project expenditure is correctly identified, classified and recorded as assets in accordance with regulatory and accounting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and regularly reconcile the Fixed Asset Register against project cost records, commitments, invoices and the approved asset structure.
- Work closely with Engineering to identify individual assets, systems and components and ensure they are correctly described, classified and allocated to the appropriate asset category.
- Ensure Engineering provides the required technical information, including equipment identification, tag numbers, system/location, asset hierarchy and commissioning or in-service status.
- Track assets through procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and handover, ensuring the FAR reflects the latest physical status.
- Identify when assets become operational or available for use and coordinate with Finance to support timely capitalisation and commencement of depreciation.
- Ensure costs are appropriately allocated between individual assets, including equipment, installation, engineering, construction and other directly attributable costs.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between the FAR, cost system, procurement records and Engineering information.
- Maintain a clear audit trail supporting asset values, classifications, transfers, adjustments and capitalisation decisions.
- Ensure changes to design, scope, equipment, asset location or asset status are reflected promptly within the FAR.
- Support periodic physical verification of assets with Engineering and Operations, confirming that recorded assets exist and are correctly identified.
- Work with Finance to ensure the FAR complies with applicable accounting policies, regulatory requirements and audit expectations.
- Produce regular FAR completeness and reconciliation reports, identifying missing information, unreconciled expenditure and actions required.
- Escalate gaps or overdue Engineering, Commercial or Finance inputs that could compromise the accuracy or regulatory compliance of the Fixed Asset Register.
Key Requirement
The Cost Controller must treat the Fixed Asset Register as a controlled financial record, not simply an administrative schedule. Every material asset and associated cost must be identifiable, traceable to supporting project and engineering information, appropriately classified, and supported by sufficient evidence to withstand internal, external and regulatory audit.
